Dual Translations: From Iconic Form to Spatial Recomposition
Spring | 2022
University of Pennsylvania
Location : Philadelphia, PA
Instructor: Caleb White + Brian DeLuna
The project explores two forms of geometric translation to generate new objects. First, the Beth Shalom Synagogue by Frank Lloyd Wright is flattened into 2D imagery and reconfigured into a compositon that redefines depth and the dominant directional axes. This composition is then used to configure 3D forms, onto which the original collage is re-projected, initiating a second translation that reshapes the perception of surface and spatial pockets.
